Vattenfall is one of Europe’s largest producers and retailers of electricity and heat. Our main markets are Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and the UK. The Vattenfall Group has approximately 20.000 employees. We have been electrifying industries, powering homes and transforming life through innovation for more than 100 years. We are committed to building a future where everyone can choose fossil-free ways to move, make and live. Join us as we work for fossil freedom!

We are a virtual international team of data engineers, analysts and scientists who work on various data projects supporting one of the Vattenfall’s fastest growing Business Units – Distribution Sweden. The majority of this Analytics Hub are data engineers of various backgrounds organized in four scrum teams with fours Scrum Masters and one Product Owner. By joining us, you would become a part of one of the DevOps teams who develop and maintain solutions based on Microsoft Azure technology stack. Moreover, you would be in dialogues with experts from other IT departments (e.g., IT Architecture) to build, maintain and optimize state of the art analytics solutions; and with business stakeholders to deliver data-driven solutions and insights that support the business goals and objectives.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • Build, deploy and maintain end-to-end, scalable and reliable analytics solutions
  • Design and manage the infrastructure required for data processing and analysis
  • Design, develop and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes that ingest, transform and load data from various sources into data warehouses and data lakes.
  • Document and communicate data engineering processes and outcomes
  • Ensure the availability, integrity, and security of data while optimizing performance and scalability
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement data governance policies and data quality standards
  • Take part in internal Vattenfall IT processes and TSC community meetings

Location:

Berlin, Hamburg, Katowice or Gliwice

Who are you?

Technical skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (Master’s degree is a merit)
  • At least 2 years of experience in data infrastructure engineering
  • Hands-on experience with services in Microsoft Azure, including Databricks
  • Demonstrated experience of C# and SQL development, ability to analyse SQL execution plans and troubleshooting
  • Python, Apache Spark, PySpark
  • GIT and CI/CD
  • Experience in designing and building ETL/ETL tracks
  • Experience in building and maintaining APIs
  • Experience with Data warehousing & Data modelling concepts

Even though the list is quite long, remember that you do not have to master all the tools from the start, and that personality and potential eat a heavy resume for breakfast!

You are right for this role, if you:

  • Have excellent communication ability (in English) – can simply explain complex concepts
  • Have experience working in an agile way
  • Are collaborative, approachable and open to new perspectives
  • Take ownership of tasks, wins and failures
  • Are analytical – problem-solving skills
  • Are proactive – a doer
  • Are passionate about learning – a curious person
